Carpet For Your Home or Business

Flooring options for a home can be overwhelming. Here at Spokane Carpet One Floor & Home we want to help narrow your selection down by informing you on the different types of carpets.

Carpet is the most multifaceted flooring option because of the array of materials, textures, patterns and colors that can be selected. The most common carpet types are cut pile, loop pile, and combination pile. They each offer their own unique features to consider.

The most frequent carpet type you will find in homes today is the cut pile carpet. Cut pile carpets are made of yarn that is cut along the ends. There are also five major styles to consider when looking into cut pile carpet.

Velvet: Soft to the touch because of the untwisted non-heat set yarn
Cable: Perfect for creating a loose informal look with its thick yarn
Shag: Will crush and mat easily because of the long length of the yarn
Frieze: Able to be mat resistant due to the highly twisted tufts and surface curl
Saxony: Has a tuft appearance from its heat set that is durable
If you are looking for a carpet that may be better off handling heavy foot traffic, you may want to look into loop pile carpet.

Level Loop: Has a smooth and even look because the loops are all of the same height
Multi-Loop Pile: Provides a pattern effect because of the different pile heights
Combination pile carpet is able to take features from both the cut and loop style carpets, and create its own unique style.

Random Shear: Has a luxurious texture by using both cut and uncut loops of different heights
Level and Cut Loop Pile: Uses cut and loop piles for a unique feel
Tip Shear: Uses the same elements as the random shear only it does not have as noticeable of a texture
